OAV Air Bearing technology generates evenly distributed gas film between the surface and the substrate. Due to low gas viscosity and friction loss by viscous shearing, any mechanical contact is avoided, and no contact between the surface creates a no slip-stick phenomenon. Air bearings coefficient of friction is a function of air shear from motion, not from surface contact. Therefore, there would be zero friction at zero velocity, and OAV technology makes infinite motion resolution possible; the result is outstanding stiffness, maximized performance, ultimate precision, and highest speed.
