OAV Air-bearing technology generates evenly distributed gas film between the surface and the substrate. Because of low gas viscosity, friction losses by viscous shearing, any mechanical contact is avoided, no contact between the surface, no slip-stick phenomenon.
Air bearings coefficient of friction is a function of air shear from motion, not from surface contact.
